1 · Who you're agreeing with
Plant Step is an iPhone application published on the Apple App Store. It is developed and operated as an individual developer:
- Developer: Independent individual developer
- Location: Sweden
- Contact: plantstep2026@outlook.com
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form the agreement between you and the developer regarding your use of the app. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple EULA") also applies; where the Apple EULA and these Terms conflict, the Apple EULA controls for the App Store relationship and these Terms control for everything else.
2 · Your licence
The developer grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Plant Step on Apple devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the Apple EULA.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, decompile, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the app, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
- Strip, hide, or alter any copyright, trademark, or attribution notices.
- Use the app to build a competing product, train a machine-learning model on its content, or scrape its server APIs.
- Bypass, disable, or interfere with security or licensing features.
3 · Your account
Plant Step doesn't ask for an email or password. When you first launch the app it generates an anonymous device identifier stored in the iOS Keychain and signs you in via Firebase Anonymous Authentication. That identifier is the only way the server recognises "you."
- The identifier lives in your Keychain — if you delete the app and reinstall on the same device, you keep your garden. If you factory-reset the device or move to a new phone without iCloud Keychain syncing, the previous account becomes unreachable.
- You can pick a display name during onboarding. It is visible only to friends you pair with (§5).
- You're responsible for keeping your device secure; anyone with unlocked access to the app on your phone can act as you inside it.
4 · Health data & disclaimer
Plant Step reads step count from Apple HealthKit to compute your plant's growth. By granting HealthKit permission you authorise this read access; you can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings.
Not medical advice. Plant Step is a wellness / motivation app. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose or treat any condition, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Do not rely on Plant Step's step totals for medical decisions; consult a qualified healthcare provider.
Step count accuracy. Step counts come from Apple HealthKit, which derives them from sensor data on your device(s). The developer does not modify, correct, or guarantee the accuracy of these counts.
5 · Pairing with friends
You can pair with up to ten other Plant Step users to view each other's plant progress.
- Pairing requires both sides to consent — one user generates a 6-character code, the other enters it. Codes expire after 24 hours.
- While paired, your partner sees your display name and your active plant's current stage and step totals. They do not see your HealthKit raw data, inventory, coins, or purchases.
- You can end any pairing at any time from
Profile → Plant sharing. The unpair is mutual and immediate. - Pairing is intended for people you know personally. Do not share invite codes with strangers, and do not use the feature to harass, monitor without consent, or surveil another person. The developer may suspend access for accounts reported as misusing pairing.
6 · Premium subscription
Plant Step offers an optional Premium subscription that unlocks features such as multiple growing plants in parallel and bonus content. Apple App Store handles billing.
- Available plans: weekly and yearly auto-renewing subscriptions. Prices, durations, and free-trial terms (where offered) are displayed on the App Store and in the in-app paywall before checkout.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID will be charged on renewal at the price displayed at purchase, unless Apple shows a different price first.
- Cancellation. Manage or cancel your subscription from
iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Premium until then. - Price changes. Apple will notify you and seek consent before charging a materially increased price.
7 · Coins & in-app purchases
Coins are a virtual currency used inside Plant Step to buy seeds and pots from the in-app shop.
- Coins are sold as consumable in-app purchases (Seedling, Bloom, Meadow packs). Once spent in the app they cannot be restored.
- Coins are personal to your account, have no monetary value, are non-transferable, and cannot be redeemed for cash or any other currency.
- Unused coins remain available on the same account on the same device until you uninstall the app or the developer terminates your access under §14.
8 · Refunds & cancellations
All purchases run through Apple's App Store. Refund decisions are made by Apple, not by the developer, under Apple's refund policy. To request a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com.
Where applicable consumer-protection law gives you a statutory withdrawal right (for example, the EU 14-day cooling-off period), that right always overrides the above. By tapping Buy on a consumable in-app product (Coins) you expressly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that, once delivered, the statutory withdrawal right may no longer apply.
9 · Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Forge step counts (e.g. shake the phone, attach it to an oscillating device, or otherwise simulate motion) for the purpose of accelerating plant growth, leaderboards, or any reward.
- Pair with another user without their genuine consent.
- Probe, scan, or test the server-side endpoints other than for normal use of the app.
- Use the app to violate any law (export controls, sanctions, child-safety, etc.) or any third-party right.
- Resell, sublicense, or rent the app or your account.
Misuse may result in suspension or termination of access (§14) without refund of unused virtual items.
10 · Intellectual property
The app, its source code, the Plant Step name and logo, the in-game artwork (plant illustrations, pots, blooms), copy, sound, animations, and Lottie assets are owned by the developer (or licensed to the developer) and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws.
You retain rights to anything you create yourself (for example, the display name you pick or a screenshot you take). You grant the developer a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that content as needed to run the features you opted into — e.g. showing your display name to friends you've paired with.
11 · Availability & changes
The developer offers Plant Step "as a service" — features may be added, changed, or removed over time. If we make a change that materially reduces a paid feature you've already subscribed to, we will offer either a refund or a pro-rata extension. Cosmetic, performance, and bug-fix updates do not count as material reductions.
Server availability is best-effort. Brief outages, maintenance windows, and infrastructure incidents can happen; we don't offer an uptime SLA on the free tier.
12 · Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Plant Step is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. The developer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with any specific device or iOS version.
13 · Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the app or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid the developer for the app in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) ten US dollars (USD 10). The developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer-protection law.
14 · Termination
You may stop using Plant Step at any time by deleting the app. To also delete the server-side copy of your account, email plantstep2026@outlook.com from any address with the device identifier shown in Profile → About.
The developer may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the app in a way that creates risk for the developer or other users. Where a serious breach occurs, the developer may terminate immediately and without refund; otherwise, the developer will give reasonable notice where practical.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) survive.
15 · Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Sweden (Stockholms tingsrätt as court of first instance) have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumer users may bring claims in the courts of their place of residence as provided by local consumer-protection law.
If you are an EU resident, you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform. The developer is not, however, obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution.
16 · General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Apple EULA, are the entire agreement between you and the developer regarding the app.
- Severability. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- No waiver. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the developer's right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. The developer may assign them to a successor in connection with a sale, merger, or reorganisation, on notice in-app.
- Changes. We may update these Terms; material changes will be flagged in-app and the Effective date at the top will move. Continuing to use the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
- Apple as third-party beneficiary. You acknowledge that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you to the extent the Apple EULA requires.

In one paragraph
Plant Step is made by one individual developer in Sweden. Use it for personal walking, don't fake your steps, don't pair without consent, and remember it's a wellness app — not medical advice. Subscriptions auto-renew through Apple (cancel anytime in iOS Settings); coins are consumable, no cash value. Apple handles refunds. The developer's liability is capped, governing law is Sweden, EU/UK consumer rights apply where they're stronger. Delete the app to stop, and email plantstep2026@outlook.com if you also want the server copy wiped.
